Undoubtedly, the research, production and application of flame retardants and flame retardant materials are important measures related to the environment and human beings. The use of flame retardants is one of the effective measures to prevent and reduce fires, which is increasingly recognized nowadays. Recently, Dalian has introduced relevant measures to improve the fire protection level, requiring new building insulation materials must have flame retardant function.
Flame retardants are additives used to prevent materials from being ignited and to inhibit flame propagation. It is mainly used in natural macromolecule materials (including plastics, rubber, fibers, wood, paper, paint, etc.) and flame retardant synthetic materials. Materials containing flame retardants should not be non-flammable because they can still burn fiercely in large fires, but they can reduce the risk of fire, that is, to prevent small fires from developing into catastrophic fires.
In order to make the flame retardant base material meet certain flame retardant requirements, a certain amount of flame retardant is usually added, but this often greatly deteriorates the physical-mechanical properties, electrical properties and thermal stability of the material, and also causes some problems in material processing technology. Therefore, people should carry out appropriate degree of flame retardant according to the use environment and demand of materials, and can not blindly require materials to have excessive flame retardant level regardless of the actual situation.
