SAFR uses scientific data from ** and evaluates each flame retardant product according to its actual use, with a view to making ** sustainable and the most effective product the most widely used. It is based on widely accepted hazard criteria and assesses the possibility of exposure to human and/or environment in the life cycle of a product based on the actual use of flame retardants. SAFR provides a rigorous evaluation criterion for flame retardants, enabling users to choose products of ** sustainability value.
Israel Chemicals is using SAFR () tools to review existing flame retardant products. More than 70% of the work has been completed, and in the future, Israel Chemicals will conduct regular reviews, which is also required by SAFR ().
SAFR''s evaluation of flame retardant products may produce four results: "recommended use", "acceptable", "not recommended use" and "unacceptable degree of hazard". Products with ratings between "recommended use" and "not recommended use" are suitable for use, but the evaluation tool will provide alternative products with ratings of "recommended use" or "usable" for users with ratings of "not recommended use". With this tool, flame retardant users can get more information in order to select the most effective and ** sustainable value products in the procurement process.
As a flame retardant manufacturer of **** and bromine manufacturer of ** in the world, Israel Chemical Industry (ICL-IP) will release a newly developed flame retardant scientific assessment tool at the China International Rubber and Plastic Exhibition in 2015. The tool is suitable for all flame retardant products, and its sustainable development is evaluated according to the application way. The tool, named SAFR', means Systematic Assessment for Flame Retardants.
The tool will be released at China International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition, a plastic exhibition in the world. Israel Chemicals will present SAFR's assessment methodology and its wide application to various stakeholders in the flame retardant industry at the conference. Following the release, Israel Chemical will provide advice to customers and welcome companies interested in further understanding to localize their sales teams.
