BASF introduces improved flame retardants for application in the field of electronics and electrical appliances

According to BASF announcement, Ultramid (polyamide) A3U42G6 is a new flame retardant and glass fiber reinforced polyamide (PA), which has been incorporated into BASF plastics series.
The product can be slightly colored, produce less sediment, low corrosivity and easy to operate. Therefore, it can enhance the durability of plasticizing components and injection moulds, and reduce the production interruption frequency caused by maintenance.
The new material meets the requirements of UL 94 standard and meets the flame retardant grade of V-0 with a thickness of 0.4mm. In addition, its thermal aging resistance has been greatly improved, reaching the well-known grade of glass fiber filled polyamide. The new Ultramid A3U42G6 is especially suitable for high temperature work, because its insulation strength (UL 746B) RTI (relative temperature index) reaches 140 degrees Celsius (thickness 0.4 mm), or even 150 degrees Celsius (thickness 0.75 mm or more).
Ultramid A3U42G6 enhances 30% glass fiber and has excellent mechanical properties. And it works with lasers when it's black. The new flame retardant grade is especially suitable for connectors and hot-pressed industrial automation applications, such as switchgear and contactors.
